There is no doubt that Propecia works. The American Hair loss Association recommends this clinically proven, FDA approved hair loss treatment as the first line of attack for any man serious about effectively treating his hair loss.
As many of my readers and listeners already know, I credit Merck and Co., the makers of Propecia, for literally changing the course of my life. Having the ability to stop the progression of my hair loss provided me with the motivation to write my first book, The Bald Truth: The First Complete Guide To Preventing and Treating Hair loss.
Throughout the last decade, I have had the profound privilege to be in a position to educate and to motivate hair loss sufferers from around the world, and the one piece of advice that I give to every man suffering with male pattern hair loss is to speak to their doctors about Propecia.
Through my radio program, I have spoken to countless men who seem to be in a great deal of distress about the prospect of going bald, yet they continue to voice their concerns about the ongoing cost of Propecia. In my opinion, Propecia is a relatively low monthly expense when considering how this treatment can literally improve the quality of a person’s life. For less than the cost of a night out, a guy can enjoy the benefits of maintaining his appearance, his self confidence, and in many cases his self esteem. In my mind it’s a no-brainer. Never the less, Merck and Co. has created a new program to help motivated men begin treatment with Propecia while saving a significant amount of money.
The Propecia—Persistence Program supports your commitment to treating your hair loss with significant discounts on the price of Propecia . I think it makes sense to take advantage of this program, especially if you’ve allowed the cost of Propecia to prevent you from effectively treating your hair loss.
Eligible patients save in 1 of 2 ways: (1) up to $60 off your first 90-day purchase and up to $200 off the fourth 90-day purchase OR (2) up to $260 immediately by purchasing a year’s supply in advance.
Besides making it easier for patients to afford Propecia, Merck and Co. is offering a 12 month money back guarantee.
The guarantee is simple. Use Propecia for 12 months and if you don’t at least maintain the hair you had when you began treatment, Merck and Co. will give you a full refund of your purchase price, less any rebates you received.
This program is for new male patients, age 18 or older with male pattern hair loss who continue to use Propecia for 12 months.
I’m writing about this because I believe that anyone concerned about their hair loss who chooses not to begin treatment with Propecia based on cost is doing themselves a huge disservice.
Check out the following sites to take advantage of these discounts and rebates, and to get yourselves on the road to effectively treating your hair loss.

Spencer:
This is an awesome article. After listening to your show for the past 11 months, I’ve learned so much more than I ever did during my 8-year hair loss battle, including what causes hair loss (DHT attacking the genetically sensitive hair follicles) and how Propecia works (inhibits the creation of DHT, or lowers it substantially).
Propecia is by far the best line of defense for early hair loss intervention and I truly hope any hair loss sufferers out there find this article and take action. The cost of Propecia is absolutely positively MINIMAL in comparison to the incredible benefits that it helps the hair loss sufferer realize – stops or reverses hair loss progression and potentially creates hair regrowth. I had the same perception in my early says. I thought: “I don’t want to take a pill for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to pay $50 or $70 bucks a month”. In retrospect, I’d be happy to make my morning cereal out of Propecia. Hair loss affects our physical appearance so profoundly and then snowballs into affecting so many other areas of our life – social, business, confidence levels, self-esteem, etc. But Propecia can thwart hair loss entirely, and therefore thwart the affects that hair loss has on our lives. To me, this is worth $50-70 bucks a month….easily! I have been on Propecia for about a year now, and there’s no doubt it has helped me. My hair feels and looks thicker and stronger and my appearance is being maintained.
As you know, I fell victim to marketing hype in my early hair loss days. It was late 1999, my hair loss was very minor, and I visited a large hair transplant clinic. All they had to do was tell me to take Propecia for a year or more, assess my results, and then – AND ONLY THEN – consider surgery. But instead they happily guided me directly into a surgery, and I couldn’t have been any more than a mild Norwood 2 at the time. How I only wish I could turn back the hands of time and take an approach similar to you — treat my hair loss with finasteride. I could have saved my hair for years – even decades – before any loss of its affect and the need for me to consider surgery. And who knows? By the time finasteride lost its affect on me, years and years later, after I keep my hair for the most important youthful years of my life, I may have had a total change in mindset, and find myself willing to let it go or just shave my head. But now that I’ve jumped onto te surgery route, I have lost the option to ever shave my head or consider similar options.
But, the awesome news – the absolutely AWESOME news – is that I found Doctor McAndrews. I am almost one year now, post-op, and he’s made my hair look GREAT. He softened my hair line (I think the previous clinic, those money-sucking morons, misused my hairline grafts, creating a slightly pluggy look), he reintroduced a little bit of symmetry in my facial framing while still maintaining a very naturally irregular hairline, and he gave me a very nice pick-up in density. It’s 2009 now, and I am looking forward to a 2nd surgery this year to get even more density. Man, I can’t wait.
But again, GREAT article, and I hope everyone finds their way to it and takes it seriously. High quality help and advice and information of the type you provide is just too hard to find and too rare these days. Propecia is the hair loss sufferer’s first true miracle.
I hope all is well man,
TeeJay

Hi there folks
Please tell me, does Merck in South Africa market this product or is it for Americans only?
If it is sold in South Africa, does the special discount apply here too and are there doctors here who specialise in this area?
I look forward to your reply.
Thanks and Regards
